[ astoria has not been seen or heard, since the circle's re-arrival in the temple, but about two days after they've crashed back home, daylight gets a little message on his watch. ]

[ daylight and meddy are in the kitchen, trying to figure out what to find something for day to eat, when daylight gets the message and nearly destroys the kitchen in the process. you'd think he wouldn't be able to trip over air but he can and nearly smacks into a wall in the process. ]

I did but don't worry! It wasn't, like, super important. Kind of? I wanted to ask if you wanted a souvenir while we were in the city.

Back home we have a lot of summer festivals at around this time of the year, so I was thinking of setting up a small celebration for everyone in the Circle.

You're a very good artist, so maybe you could help with the decorations? There are a lot of different things to plan though.

[ thankfully enough- daylight has enough energy to respond. a lot of energy, if the volley of messages are anything to be believed.

whether it's from the need to confirm to a good friend that he is alive and well, or merely the need to speak with someone after the storm, akira will, either way, find himself getting a response. a lot of it, in fact. ]

I am awake but at what cost?? ((´д｀)) I have bruises. My bruises have bruises. My bruises' bruises have bruises that are already making bruises of their own.

Take care of Meddy for me if I'm too bruised to get out of bed in the future. They like pillow nests and hate anyone ignoring their 6 AM wakeup calls.

[there's something so comforting about Daylight's flurry of responses that Akira can't help but laugh in relief, even though he's being told that his buddy has bruises with bruises with bruises]

I've got two eyes, one nose, and ten fingers and toes. I'm doing pretty okay.

Good as a guy can be, given what we've been through. A little banged up and a little singed but not the worst for wear! Poor Meddy got themselves in, like, a million tizzies though. So many checkups, ack.

What about you? Are you okay?

Meddy??? Glad you've passed those checkups. I've got to admit between your plan and the lightning, I was starting to get nervous for you. I figured you didn't need me being a mother hen.

And I'm good. Mostly. Gotta admit all this talk about darkness has me worried I won't be for long.

[after dropping off Zero's cape to her room, Merlin deems it fit to be wandering the halls. open doors get a curious peek inside, because who doesn't want to see? if people leave their doors cracked, that's their choice, as is his to look and want to see.

of course, he noticed about five minutes into this that somehow, his sense of power, of self had all returned. flickering into being as much as the plants that are shooting up, feeling restorative and reassuring all at once. and bursting with so much energy, what he doesn't notice is that trailing behind him in his footsteps, flowers are blooming - a soft pink, sweetly scented, every now and then blossoming.

but more important is who or what he might pry upon. Daylight's room is no exception.]

[ the first thing to note is that daylight's room is a mess.

blankets and pillows are strewn about. souvenirs from the last two worlds they helped scattered here and there. how anyone can find anything in this landmine of a living space is a mystery, given how it looks like there's only one tidy place. (maybe that's why daylight is busying himself with organising his supply of art materials in some corner of the room, temporarily oblivious to the new person in his room.)

and perhaps the most interesting thing about the room are the walls. or, rather, what are on the walls. daylight has littered them in drawings and sketches that vary in subjects: some are landscapes from around the temple, while some are from a desert city or a world seemingly made of metal. some sketches show those from the temple - like a boy with glasses and a friendly smile, or an elegant woman with long dark hair - while some the recurring figures have never been seen before. daylight appears to be particularly fond of two individuals the most: a woman with unreal blue eyes and silver hair, and an individual possibly on fire.

alas - not much more inspection can be done, since daylight's companion, meddy, stirs away from their nap on the pillow nest and sees merlin. surprised to see someone else here, they're shooting off to meet him at the entrance, whirring in disapproval. beep boop beep? ]

[it may be a mess, but to Merlin, that speaks of someone living, truly. someone who spent time here, things no doubt in their own sort of flow that speaks to the occupant - an artist, clearly, and his gaze floats over the pictures, absorbing their contents before he's snapped out of it by Meddy's chastising. Merlin puts his hands up, showing there's nothing.]

Hey now, I'm not trying to cause any trouble.
