blankets and pillows are strewn about. souvenirs from the last two worlds they helped scattered here and there. how anyone can find anything in this landmine of a living space is a mystery, given how it looks like there's only one tidy place. (maybe that's why daylight is busying himself with organising his supply of art materials in some corner of the room, temporarily oblivious to the new person in his room.)
and perhaps the most interesting thing about the room are the walls. or, rather, what are on the walls. daylight has littered them in drawings and sketches that vary in subjects: some are landscapes from around the temple, while some are from a desert city or a world seemingly made of metal. some sketches show those from the temple - like a boy with glasses and a friendly smile, or an elegant woman with long dark hair - while some the recurring figures have never been seen before. daylight appears to be particularly fond of two individuals the most: a woman with unreal blue eyes and silver hair, and an individual possibly on fire.
alas - not much more inspection can be done, since daylight's companion, meddy, stirs away from their nap on the pillow nest and sees merlin. surprised to see someone else here, they're shooting off to meet him at the entrance, whirring in disapproval. beep boop beep? ]

Hey now, I'm not trying to cause any trouble.
[....this time.]

all the same, they give a sharp little, 'beep beep!' at merlin's direction and begins to try and usher them out. better get this done before- ]
Oh! Merlin! Hey! [ daylight looks faintly scandalised to see his companion, more or less, trying to hustle the merlin out of here. ] Don't be like that, Meddy. He's a guest! Come on, let him in.
[ beep boop beep, is meddy's reply. they're not happy but... for daylight's sake, they following along with his not-quiet-orders. ]
no subject
So this is where you're staying! I was curious.

realising what a mess his room must look to merlin, daylight drops everything he's doing and scrambles to try and tidy up. maybe he can get a semblance of cleanliness in a bit, but it'll take a while so: ] Meddy! Can you offer Merlin a seat? He's our guest and we should treat him nicely.
[ beep beep beep, goes meddy, sounding very sour at the prospect.
nevertheless, meddy begins to nudge merlin further into the room, guiding him to a a pile of sheets and crates that have been strategically put together to form furniture. or the suggestion of furniture, at least. ]
no subject
I didn't know you were an artist.
[since that had been what caught his eye in the first place.]

all the while, it seems daylight is happily oblivious to meddy's annoyance while he continues to fix his things. the comment pulls him out of his tidying up, his helm swiveling to the nearest wall covered in drawings. ]
Oh! Kind of. [ he waves his servo, shrugging casually. ] I'm more of a doodler at the minute, Se- Merlin. I'm still practicing.
I wish you could have met my Auntie Chris. Her drawings were amazing.

[propping his chin up on his hand, leaning forward in his seat, he's the picture of perfect attention. whatever Daylight wants to share, drop about himself, Merlin will pick it up and store it away in his memory. that was part of travels - who you met, and what they told you.]

he stops at a particular sketch that's pinned on the wall - a woman with dark hair pinned up by a bow. her smile is a little awkward, but there's no denying the vibrancy and warmth. his auntie chris, presumably. ]
Auntie Chris was friendly and nice and funny. Even when she was busy with doing fundraisers and charity runs for stuff, she would take the time to spend time with me and teach me stuff. Like shading and colouring and drawing perspective and angles. She was going to teach me how to paint like her but... she got sick and...
[ he shrugs, a little helplessly. ] I miss her. I wish she wasn't the first to go but... I guess it's better I realised how fleeting the human lifespan is compared to Galateions.
no subject
It's never long compared to living on. But you got to know her in the first place! And your memories are precious things. Those are worth taking joy in - that you're still telling me about her, all these years later, and drawing her. Keeping her story alive.
no subject
Yeah. I want to keep her story alive. [ he ducks his helm sheepishly now as he begins to pin some of the sketches he's proud of onto the walls.
though they're mostly messy, it shouldn't be too hard for merlin to see what the sketches are about: a garden of some sort. a town in the desert. a few of the woman with piercing eyes, his auntie chris, and a strange robotic/metallic being that's more shape than actual form. there's a lot of the woman and the being, actually. ]
Someone's got to. Everyone else who knew-knew here is either gone or, um, too busy to try. [ not a knock against the others or anything!! he knows they're busy but... it'll be nice if the others talked about those long gone more. ]
