[The next time Daylight visits the post office, the Postmaster General will hand him a letter! It's written in precise cursive handwriting, the penmanship quite practiced.]
Dearest Daylight,
A happy new year to you, as well. There's no need to thank me for the gift, though I am pleased to hear you're enjoying it. I must confess that sending a music box was somewhat selfish of me; perhaps you will see why in your continued fraternization with the forest spirits. I hear they are quite fond of you.
Do not apologizing for making this request of me. I understand that you write with this town's best interests in mind, as you and others who have attempted to contact me have long since proven your intentions in earnest. I believe you when you speak on behalf of the community, and I trust that my safety would not be compromised should I choose to include myself among your ranks.
However, while my own safety is indeed a factor in my hesitancy to appear in a public forum, I must also consider the wellbeing of the town. In the past, I have made myself available to peaceful groups only for my presence to then spur distrust, creating a rift in the community. I would loathe for a similar fate to fall upon this community you all have worked tirelessly to build.
This is not to say I am against the notion of my eventual introduction to those of you unlucky enough to find yourself lost in this place with me. Quite the opposite, in fact, as I believe our cooperation is our only path forward—rather, I simply wish to illuminate the motivations behind my actions so that you and the others may understand that my reclusivity is not the result of any failures on your behalf. I would not engage to this degree if I had any doubts in your collective capabilities and compassion.
While I would prefer to delay any sort of "dramatic reveal" to the masses, it would be quite rude of me to deny you the answers you seek, don't you think? If you find the idea agreeable, perhaps we could meet for tea in the church. You may bring along a friend if you like, though I humbly request that you keep our rendezvous plans between yourself and your trusted confidants until after we've spoken. I would not want the townspeople to rile themselves into a frenzy over the notion of my visit.
In the meantime, I have met with another among your ranks, and he has informed me that some of you suffered hallucinations of Beacon as it was years ago. Please do encourage those affected by such hallucinations to write to me, as I am most curious as to how accurate these visions depicted the home I once knew. Perhaps I will be able to shed further light on what you've learned through these experiences. I am not currently connected to the network, but letters may be sent to me through the post office, as you know. The venerable Postmaster General will know how to reach me. (By the by, they speak quite highly of you.)
Please let me know when you may be available for tea. I look forward to putting a face to the name.
Best, Dr. Maridel Solis
[If Daylight would like to meet with Maridel, let us know and we'll set up a log! He may bring along a +1 of his choice.]
and maybe a little bit of external screaming but he's not going to bother poor postmaster general like that.
after he reads through the letter, he informs postmaster general that he'll have a reply to the sender in a few days time and will be back soon...! ]
[ ooc; i would like daylight to meet with madriel! date still pending due to planning things out with others since he will bring someone with him but - would next week be possible for the log? ]
[No problem! Take your time in getting your plans together, and next week would be just fine! Once you've settled on Daylight's date, let us know and we'll get that log going. 👍]
