I can swing on by your place, buddy. :) Finishing my morning shift at the post office and I'll do what I can to drop by lunch! [ god, it is so... weird to keep using this, despite his and others' misgivings of this device in the wake of what happened. ]

[ He'll be pacing a trench, but he'll be there -- mug of tea in hand to keep himself steady.
He has forgotten to warn Daylight his eyes are bright red again now, so hopefully he isn't too startled when Wrathion answers the door. ]
no subject
[ he doesn't seem startled at the slightest besides the minor jump at the start, not expecting such a chance. but after that, he's cool.
in fact- he seems relieved? looks like physical traits are returning to them. plus, it looks like their theory of things being given back to them after shit like this is true. ] Was this what you wanted to talk about?
no subject
Wrathion lofts an eyebrow, hesitates as he steps aside to let Daylight in. ]
No.
[ Although... perhaps... he should? Perhaps...
He closes the door behind them, cradles his cup of tea in thought a long few seconds. ]
I spoke to officer Harding.
[ Then, since no doubt Daylight has concerns -- ]
I did not harm him.
[ Just to clarify! He stuck to the rule over no picking a fight with the police. ]
( 1/2 gag tag. )
( 2/2, real tag. )
daylight's eyebrows shoot up at what he had just heard. he's obviously surprised by this but clearly intrigued. ]
I spoke to him too. When we were all heading to that shelter to try and save the others. [ he distinctly remembers coming out of that conversation feeling kind of... sorry for the poor guy.
if the theory of him being stuck here is true... ] Okay- What happened between you guys? What did you talk about?
no subject
[ Wrathion pauses, fingers drumming against his arm thoughtfully. ]
He seemed genuinely... upset that it was in use, but not I would say... surprised. He didn't believe anyone went down there anymore.
[ Fingers tap thoughtfully against his folded arms again. ]
Did you overhear his conversation with our dear mayor?
no subject
I— No. I had no idea there was a conversation to be overheard at all. [ he's definitely thrown off by that revelation, looking pretty annoyed and perturbed he had missed that of all things.
granted— daylight had more or less passed out on the 28th of last month, having finally lost his battle with the exhaustion and stress that nipped at his heels since the start of the kidnapping incident.
frowning, he pats himself down and pulls out a small — for his size — notepad and pencil, ready to take down some notes. ] When did that happen? What was said?
no subject
The mayor indicated it had been Harding's job to keep us in line. He inquired how we had found out about the shelter -- Harding implied the mayor knew who told us.
[ A pause, Wrathion thinking here. ]
Potentially someone was being injured for this, the sound was unclear. Harding suggested we should have simply been killed, and the mayor suggested tranquilisation. They agreed to raise security, and the mayor implied he wanted us out of this town or dead. A surprise, he clearly isn't responsible for our presence then. They discussed a third party being brought on board who seemed to frighten Harding.
no subject
trust them, buddy: they would be hightailing it out of here if you so much as pointed to the direction of a maybe exit. he continues to worry for his friends back home, wondering how the flow of time works here and back home.
but- being bitter and resentful won't get anyone anywhere and he needs to make sure this information is accurate as possible, so he's confident in reviewing it later. he jots down that tidbit, frowning in thought at some of the things he had gotten down. ]
So there's a divide amongst the town with our appearance here. The mayor or the chief of police isn't directly responsible for us being here but he's complicit all the same. [ again: if he wanted them gone, he can show them the way out and he'll, for sure, happily take it.
he taps at one line in particular, intrigued by it: ] What was the third party's name? Do you think we can work with them, if we have to?
no subject
[ His frown deepens, then Wrathion flits his eyes away -- back to Daylight. ]
Anduin had the arm removed.
[ A related topic. One bothering Wrathion a lot. ]
no subject
maybe if he does it enough, he can ignore the building headache that threatens to take a chomp off the front of his head. ] So we have multiple adversaries to worry about-
[ okay wait what was that about aduin's arm. ]
Um... [ clearly surprised by both the topic change and what the topic change is about, daylight looks thrown off, mouth opening and closing without anything coming out for a bit. ] Oh. Okay. I hope... I hope it wasn't too painful, doing it.
I definitely wish I could have given you guys some of the painkillers I have lying around. [ seriously, he's kind of surprised how he's still finding stuff in the medicine cabinet. ]
no subject
Wrathions fingers tap against his arm again, and he begins to pace a little. ]
He will recover, but I have... concerns. While he was being held they cut his hair short. A few days previous, he had been messaging me discussing the length of my hair and if it should be cut -- I asked why mine should and not his.
[ And now, this. Wrathion works his jaw a little, trying to control his frustration.
You see the issue, Daylight. ]
no subject
[ oh.
oh. he can definitely see the issue now. ]
Fuck— [ he presses a hand against his mouth, trying to stifle the stream of cursing that he can’t keep to himself.
goddamit. ] That’s a really unfortunate way for us to confirm the walkie-talkies aren’t safe to use.
[ he can’t help but flashback to all the times he shit talked someone from the town and makes a face. how he didn’t get picked for selection and he feels a stab of guilt, wondering if that (if he) had been a factor in what happened to the others. ]
We need to be proactive then. [ these are some things he’s been thinking of doing for a while and better late than ever in implementing or suggesting these actions: ] Don’t use the device if we can. Don’t go into deep details if we can’t avoid it.
If you need to pass something along, like a message or a package, do it through me, okay? We can’t even trust snail mail here. The post office is in on this.
no subject
[ On all counts. He doesn't trust anything.
He feels queasy thinking about it. ]
I'm concerned about what else they might use against us. Have you mentioned my association with Anduin to anyone else?
[ He's already spoken to him in public, after all, but he could... minimise that relationship. Make an attempt to play it off as nothing, in the hope that it isn't too late.
Anything to prevent this place trying to leverage Anduin against him. He cannot afford that, because he knows it would work. ]
no subject
give him a second to think about this because it has been a blur of activity for him. ]
Besides Anduin himself when we were making coffee? [ daylight shakes his head, lips twisting in thought, ] No one outside of the group, for sure. I sure as hell didn't comment about it on the network.
I can only think of Falco when he visited me but it was only a comment. Not only that but it was the two of us and we were face-to-face. [ and daylight had made damn well sure no one else was around. he's been careful to avoid the ones with too-wide smiles and aggressive cheer.
he wonders if that'll be enough. ] Okay... From a scale of one to ten, how useless will it be if we tried to delete the messages we already wrote on the device?
no subject
[ He lets out a slow sigh. ]
I have little experience with this brand of technology. Titan artefacts are more my style.
[ Big, magic powered machines. Not... whatever this is. ]
I would... appreciate if you would keep what you know about us to yourself. I'm uncertain who can keep quiet.
[ Remember the police station debacle, Daylight. Wrathion is actively trying to avoid that sort of thing happening again. He really is. ]
no subject
but nodding in agreement, daylight mimics zipping his mouth shut while he debates where they can talk in certain privacy. the diner isn't a smart place with how it's always bustling and someone made a comment about him visiting others' places the other day. it could be an innocent observation but the fact it was noticed at all- ]
Do you think there's anywhere else we can talk about this sort of stuff besides our places? [ he's coming up blank here, much to his frustrations. ] We have the parks... Maybe the woods? That lake? Not too many people around the lake from what I understand so we could chat there.
[ pretending to do... lake stuff...... maybe.......? ]
no subject
[ You know, potential lake monster and all. Wrathion takes breath, tries to pull himself together. His eyes rove up and down Daylight thoughtfully, as if weighing something up. ]
... Thank you.
[ Look, he's being nice. He's trying. This is Wrathion, trying. ]
( 1/2 gag tag. )
why are these boys allowed to rub braincells together.... ]
( 2/2, real tag. )
the heart of the new matter now: ]
The lake? [ huh. that's interesting to know. he jots that down on his messy, messy notes, knowing future him is going to hate current him for how messy this is. maybe dialup had something when she suggested he get a planner or something.
but focus, daylight: ] I'll be down for a trip on a boat if it means getting away from the locals but... Why do you want to investigate there? Anything of interest about it?
no subject
Following up on the lead from before, the creature that grabbed Anduin when he was sent into the water. I've been unable to find any particular mythos associated with the location, beyond boats going missing.
[ It's somehow been like two months since they first discussed it, but it's been Nagging at Wrathion the whole time.
Everything else happening just somewhat... took over and became more important. ]
no subject
[ daylight doesn't even weigh the pros and cons of the situation. if this is a lead that they can follow then they should follow it.
it's better than nothing. ] When do you want to start poking around the lake? I want to give Agatha a headsup before I just bounce from the house and leave her by herself.
[ that and he wants to finish trying to fix the mess that is his house. so... many... boxes.... ]
no subject
Whenever suits. I have no other plans, currently. Perhaps a weekend? Disguised as a fishing trip.
[ They'd be fishing for monsters, after all, so it isn't entirely a fiction. ]
