You do not consider this punishment?
[ Wrathion's tone says he absolutely does, and he objects to the concept it isn't already cruel enough. ]
no subject
[ alright, let him explain that bit: ] You've got to consider the amount of resources, time, and effort that's being used up on us. The way they were able to get us all, strip us down, and set it all up so neatly.
I think this is someone's... [ he pauses, making a waving gesture with his hands like he can capture the word he's looking for. ] I think this is someone's experiment or project. They don't see anything wrong with it. Not really.
Why see it as a 'punishment' when you can see it as a 'trial' instead? Does that make sense?
no subject
Resources are... relative.
[ Not that Daylight is necessarily wrong, but the resources aspect may not necessarily be relevant. ]
Before I was drawn here I was looking into Ny'alotha. A sleeping city of numberless crimes, where only dark things walk. We had assumed Ny'alotha was a physical place, somewhere that already existed, as most mortal logic dictates when one talks of a city. Yet that was wrong, Ny'alotha was a potential -- a vision of the future. A reality being brought into being, little by little overwriting our own. When the architect is an Old God, the small number of people here would be nothing.

[ daylight wishes he could lean into the chair and chew over what he had just learned. but, alas, the chair is already creaking and he's worried it might give way any second now. ] Okay then... With your experience with this-
[ what was the name of the city again? stars, human tongue is weird sometimes. ]
-Ny'alotha and what you faced against it, do you think we're in immediate danger of what might be keeping us here? Or do we have time to group up and prepare some sort of counter?
[ because it sounds like wrathion was in the middle of a hell of an adventure. if anyone would have a clue of how to tackle/approach this encroaching or looming threat over him, it would be him right now. ]
no subject
Some sort of initial chain of tasks might help. ]
If the... architect of Ny'alotha's rise is the architect behind our capture... the issue is more subtle. N'Zoth is a schemer, he prefers the long game. To turn people to his side -- to whisper, manipulate. His nickname is the corrupter, and his influence... insidious.
no subject
taking that in mind: ] Doesn't sound like what we're going through.
[ snowcorpses and murderous reindeer are not what you exactly call 'long game' worthy. his mom has set up some really intense shit and he's seen what a long game looks like.
with him being an example-]Is the architect known for fucking with heads around? Make things appear then disappear, leaving no traces behind? Like with what happened to the village.

[ Restraining a dragon is a feat, especially one prepared for it. Especially as fully as Wrathion has been restrained. ]
no subject
Ack. Okay— [ he looks up at the ceiling, trying to figure out what to say next. ] Let’s chalk him up as a possible suspect for who’s behind this then. You would probably be the only one with any expertise when it comes to this architect asshole.
Got any clues on how to defeat him? Or distract him long enough that we can get away out of here?
no subject
The key defeating an Old God is resistance. If they cannot take hold of your mind, you stand a much greater chance of survival. Before I was drawn here I had worked on enchanting items to protect the wearer's sanity -- a slow effort, one I built on over time with samples collected from the monstrosities in his strongholds. Perhaps if the restraints on me here continue to loosen, I can begin to inspect some of our less friendly local wildlife should it return and begin a comparative effort.

[ everyone he's met so far has been questioning what's going on or making it clear they refuse to play along. which is comforting. they're strong in terms of numbers, in his opinion. ] If you mean anything related to the murderous reindeer, maybe I can help you out in that department. Had some pretty close encounters with them so I kind of know what to expect.
[ plus he has a baseball bat that's tried-and-true tested on them. that's a plus! ]
no subject
Having a strong mind is not enough. What I speak of is resistance to being interfered with, your dreams invaded, your will eroded by force, whispers following you that convince you that there is no way forward. To doubt your friends. To kill someone who might threaten you. To trust an outside force.
[ He makes a vague, sweeping gesture. ]
Any of the unusual creatures this place spawns would be good to inspect a sample of, to see if corruption has altered their shape. I've been told the lake is also occupied by an unknown entity.
no subject
The lake? [ he leans forward, clearly interested by that.
daylight wishes he had grabbed his notes or something but he can jot down information later. ] Where did you hear that? And what did you hear exactly? I’ve been thinking about places we should check out and it never occurred to me that a lake could be a possible place of interest.
no subject
The lake being used for skating during the celebrations. An associate was teleported out to it late at night during the blizzard. He found himself under the ice, and told me something grabbed him. I spent a considerable amount of time attempting to warm him up after the encounter.
no subject
[ that is definitely strange. he knows huaisang fell into the ice and he had has well but the ice.
that and nothing had grabbed him or huaisang. you'd think that'll be something that would be remembered (him) or mentioned (huaisang, in the wake of daylight recusing him). ]
Alright then- The lake. [ he nods, putting a mental note of this. ] Wouldn't hurt to look into stories and urban legends related to the lake.
no subject
[ To teleport Anduin under the ice. Ha ha, trapped under the ice, what incredible wit!
Wrathion looks like he's considering how enjoyable it would be to strangle that individual with his bare hands. ]
Whoever was responsible likely knew there was something hiding in the depths. Urban legends might be a good starting point, or once the weather warms up a spot of fishing.
[ Is he casually suggesting fishing up a monster?
Yes. Makes it easier to kill! ]
no subject
because, if the answer is yes, that idea slaps hard. ]
We can do a bit of both. Speak to locals, learn what they know about the lake, and swing by said lake on the same day.
[ it's how it worked in the horror plays he watched back in dust tumbles: people do spooky investigating and, immediately after, the spooky thing they're investigating kicks in. maybe they'll be lucky(?) enough that that will happen. ]
I'm available for most days in the mid-afternoon, during my break at work. Maybe around... one to two in the afternoon. You think that'll be a good time for you to try some spooky lake poking in the future? [ daylight is assuming wrathion is an adult like him. shouldn't be too hard to extend an lunch hour for a wee bit longer. ]
no subject
The afternoon should be suitable, presuming the quiet continues.
[ You ever say something you later regret? Reader, this sentence was it. ]
Perhaps a few days of planning. If we have an idea what to expect from our dear neighbours we may then require supplies.
[ Fishing supplies? A net?
Wait, what's this Lassie? Wrathion Is capable of formulating a plan that isn't 'set things on fire and stab people?'
He doesn't know what you mean, that future-plan was a good plan too. ]
