HISTORY:
WORLD HISTORY
This universe is a fantastical and frightening place to call home, for it promises both salvation and damnation for the traveler of the stars if they're not careful in their journey. On one planet there's a chance of them running across the Cephylia, a peaceful race of amphibious aliens who communicate through 'song' and wish to travel space to find more water-based planets to call their home. On another planet there's a chance of stumbling across the machinations of the strange and eerie Essentialist, a group of mysterious and ancient aliens that are more Lovecraftian than extraterrestrial in both their design and their approach to the universe. This universe is known officially as the Nadir Cluster and is always changing, always becoming something else entirely thanks to the large, large cast of characters from other worlds that call this universe their home.
One of the most important events that have ever happened in the Nadir Cluster is something known as the Legacy War. After overthrowing their colonisers, the Essentialists, the mecahnoid race known as the Galateions devolved into a long and bloody war when an argument between what to do next and an assassination of an important rebel leader caused the revolutionaries to splinter into two distinct groups - the Automatons and the Dreadroids - that will span for centuries and across planets and galaxies. The Automatons will eventually win the war in the year 2063 but the consequences of this war are staggering. Worlds are left barren and uninhabitable thanks to Dreadroids' reckless raiding and pillaging for precious resources. Over a quadrillion lives are lost from the warfare, many of them being non-combatants from other worlds that got caught in the crossfire. Races are now inherently suspicious of any Galateion they see, believing any individual fuelled by arc fuel and energy are monsters.
The year is now 2238 and while the Legacy War is considered over, the repercussions for the space-wide war is still being felt by everyone. Galateon, the home planet of Galateions, is still undergoing the process of becoming habitable again thanks to the hands on help of the first settlers, the Wandering Wonders. Earth, the final battlegrounds for the Automatons and Dreadroids' decisive battles, has become a major player in the complicated politics of the galaxies and planets, thanks to being rich in creathil crystals that is essential for Galateions and other races. Three major powerhouses - NODICE, the Order of Black Hollows, and The Galactic Union of Worlds - were founded in response to end of the war. NODICE is an independent organisation that focuses on rapid response and intergalactic emergency involving alien lifeforms on Earth. The Order of Black Hollows - home to its famous military arm known as the Hollowed Company - is dedicated to upholding the post war Treaty of Pax Orbis and helping refugees find a home. The Galactic Union of Worlds is an interstellar organisation that's tasked to promise cooperate amongst the members along with creating and maintaining order.
Most galaxies are still wary of the sight of a Galateion in their midst, the sight of the mechanoid aliens bringing painful memories to organic and non-organic races. It'll be a long time before the scars of war are healed and forgiven.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Before he was even born, Daylight had a lot riding on him. Expectations. Hopes. Comparisons. Considering who his parents are, it's not a surprise others would look to him and ask, 'And what will you do?'
His mother was Lorem Laurel, one of the founders of the Galactic Union of Worlds and considere one of the best diplomatic ambassadors to grace the intergalactic stage despite her young age and the fact she's considered a technorganic, a hybrid of organic and technology-based species thanks to her own past misadventures. His father is Radiance vis Noxolarium, the Sundered Star, a veteran of the infamous Legacy War for the Automatons and the original captain of the Lornful Light during its fateful voyage that would later bring back the Wandering Wonders. They're considered legends now. Part of a pantheon of great and almost mythical figures for their achievements, their victories, and their own romance and eventual joining with the other.
Not that Daylight got to know these stories from his mom and dad personally. They were long since dead by the time Daylight was old enough to form his own memories.
Radiance died before Daylight was even born - Killed during a interplanetary mission that had gone pear shaped for him and his fireteam. He opted to sacrifice himself to give the members time to fall back and it succeeded at the cost of his own life. Lorem, who was back on Earth at this point, was heartbroken by these turn of events and soon turned to her best friends, Laura Costol and Leeds Ascii, for support in both getting past Radiance's death and raising the unborn son in her. Though she tried to carry on without her everlight, it was clear to many that Radiance's death left a heavy cloud hanging over the diplomat for the rest of her life. Daylight was born on what's considered March 20, 2120 during Lorem's diplomatic visit to Galateon for her work with NODICE. Due to being birthed on the brightest day of the planet, he had been given the title, 'the Sunsung.' It won't long before Lorem began to heavily on the help of Laura and Leeds when it came to raising Daylight, often too busy with work to be with him like she hoped she could have been.
Lorem passed away when Daylight was only nineteen-years-old in Earth time and classified as a babe in Galateon standards. She died at the age of forty-three, thanks to complications from her long standing health issues and the constant stress she felt thanks to her job finally getting the better of her. The custody and care for her son fell completely under Laura and Leeds, as dictated by Lorem's ironclad will so no one else could swoop in and take him. Much as she loved her friends from the Lornful Light and she cared for her mother and grandfather, she thought it was best Daylight stayed in Dust Tumbles - The sleepy desert town where it all began for her and her friends.
And so Daylight stayed in Dust Tumbles, cared for by Laura and Leeds and their own respective families at that point as they watch him grow up and pick up an array of interests ranging from poetry writing to singing to drawing. He remembers these times with clarity and fondness. He remembers the hot summer days of tending to the Soldier's Kisses flowers, watching them bloom under the bright sunshine. He remembers weathering the dust storm seasons, thinking about how awful it feels to have sand lodge in his seams and grind against his gears. He remembers growing up with his guardians and looking up to the two in awe and excitement. Laura for her strength and decisiveness, the founder of NODICE and a leader beloved by her team. Leeds for his knowledge for seemingly everything and anything Daylight went to him for, ready to answer any question thrown his way with a smile on his face and a fond pat to Daylight's helm.
He lived an idyllic childhood with the pair, raised with lots of love and encouragement to make sure Daylight knew that he was loved by his family despite the differences he sometimes felt kept a gap between them. Also stories. He was raised on lots and lots of stories about the adventures NODICE had and the adventures his parents had, causing him to envision his parents as these larger-than-life figures who could do no wrong. Laura and Leeds meant well in their storytelling but they probably should have know better when going on and on and on about the exploits of Daylight's parents who he never got a chance to really know.
Daylight soon outgrew the two in a lot of ways and not just in height when he ended up sprouting to ten feet in height. Laura and Leeds began to grow older and older while Daylight aged slowly thanks to his Galateion genes. It came to such a shock to poor Daylight when he looked down at Uncle Leeds one day and saw how white his hair has become and how much he relied on Meddy to take care of him. The shock only deepened when Laura passed away at ninety-two, surrounded by friends and loved ones, and both Daylight and Leeds knew it wouldn't be long before Leeds joined his friends on the other place. A place Daylight couldn't visit.
When Leeds was no longer able to raise Daylight, too old and infirm by that point at the ripe old age of ninety-six, custody of Daylight changed hands once again. This time Daylight found himself under the care of two Galateions - Breakthrough zay Alstarfyre and Kingsguard of the Shining Towers' Sector. Part of the original team when NODICE was founded, Breakthrough and Kingsguard were trusted friends of Laura and Leeds and if anyone could protect Day, Leeds thought it'll be these two. To comfort his bondson on the day he signed away his guardian rights, Leeds gifted Daylight his medical drone Meddy. The little bot now modified to look after Daylight's needs exclusively and be loyal to him to the bitter ends.
He was going to need the comfort, considering the major changes his life now underwent. For one thing, Daylight found himself being moved from Dust Tumbles to Breakthrough's space commune located on the moon - Neutral Grounds. Soon Daylight found himself being boxed in a lot of ways, being informed it was for his own good by Breakthrough and others like Nockpoint and Softlight.
Due to the close relationship that Breakthrough had with Laura and Leeds during their time together in NODICE, the scientist wanted to keep her promise to keep Daylight from harm. It made sent to her that the best way to do this was to move somewhere far away from Earth's antics and put Daylight on a rigorous schedule, putting his life and activities and events on a timetable she and others on Neutral Grounds can monitor. It was almost the same thing every day - Wake up. Health inspection. Eat. Study. Train. Free time. Study. Wash. Eat. Health inspection. Sleep. Sometimes there'll be visitors to Neutral Grounds and calls from others but Breakthrough made sure those were far and in-between so Daylight didn't 'excite' himself too much, wanting to raise him in a safe and sterile environment where someone was always watching over him to make sure he didn't get into trouble.
This would be Daylight's life for the next forty four years and the fact would hit him like a ton of bricks one day while he roamed the station, bored out of his mine. He's been there for forty years. Forty years! This monotonous, boring routine he found himself going through on Neutral Grounds was his life for the past forty years and it sickened him a lot to see his days... pass by. Move on with no real significance or change.
Much as he loved his family, knowing they wanted to keep him safe since he was the last of two great lines, Daylight knew he did not want to live our his days like this. It made his frame crawl at the thought of being trapped in one place, not able to go anywhere by himself. They meant really, they really did, but this is not what Daylight wanted.
So the moment the chance presented itself and the moment he could stomach the idea of hurting Breakthrough and Kingsguard' hearts, Daylight ran away at the age of hundred-seven-years-old. He grabbed his pack of essentials and ran away from Neutral Grounds while the others were busy with something that day. Smuggling himself in a transport shuttle so he could head back to Earth and see what he's been missing, he struck out on his own and made it a point to avoid important (and obvious) places like Dust Tumbles or Riverglades os Amesrose to avoid being spotted and flagged.
He'll spend the next nine years all by himself, traveling the Old Farmlands' sleepy towns and trying his hardest to keep a low profile though he was a giant mechanoid hybrid who had a colour scheme that could blind someone on a bright day. He kept himself pretty busy in these times by doing a number of things. Helping those who were being harassed by others. Doing some chores on struggling farms and fields in exchange for their silence and a place to sleep. Practicing his writing or drawing to keep his hands occupied. Surfing the intrasystem about his parents to whittle the hours away and learn more about them. Daylight wouldn't say this period of his life was satisfactory since he was, essentially, twiddling his thumbs, but he made his choices and that was what is important to him.
When he later learns that Lornful Light was making a pitstop on Earth when he turns a hundred-sixteen-years-old, Daylight knew he had to get in on it. It isn't an every day event that the ship his father commanded and his mother helped run would be dropping by so close to a farm he was hiding out in at the time. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance and Daylight took it with both hands, immediately racing over them and stowing himself on the ship to see the stars and the worlds and the faces he's read and heard so much about.
While he had issues at first when he boarded the Lornful Light - mainly convincing the crew to let him stick around at all when they discovered the boy curled up in one of the cargo containers of their supplies - Daylight managed to carve a place for himself after a series of terrible and funny missteps that involved poor communication, accidental rivalry, unrequited love, and the accidental discovery of his ability to assimilate machinery into his body. Though others looked down at him for a number of reasons, ranging to viewing the boy as a sheltered kid who wasn't cut for their type of adventures to viewing the boy as either Radiance but smaller or Lorem but smaller, he's managed to prove himself with his skills and loyalty to the Lornful Light.
Most memorably when he stuck up for Nightbreaker after she had been accused of committing murder of another crewmate. Though the two never got along, Daylight couldn't see her killing someone and spoke on her behalf when others were so certain she was the culprit and, with help from others, got to the bottom of the mystery that involved double agents and a weapon of mass destruction being hidden on the ship. The two soon became friends and it was... not exactly easy sailing for him but Daylight could tell this was a major turning point.
Having been part of the starship for the last two and halfish years, Daylight is still trying to find something for himself and it's coming along nicely. One of the most surprising and pleasing aspects of his time on the Lornful Light is the fact he managed to make friends for himself. Daylight struck up, or, rather, stumbled upon, some solid friendships with other crew members there: Emergency Aid, Nightbreaker, and Dialup. Despite the mishmash of personalities and ideals amongst the group - ranging from Emergency Aid and Daylight's love for all living things clashing with Nightbreaker's lone wolf tendencies or Dialup and Nightbreaker butting heads about information about the Legacy War - they've all become fire forged friends with what they've been through on the starship.
They now from the new fireteam of the Lornful Light, known by its team designation Trailblazer. He acts as the scout, going ahead of his team to observe their surroundings and update the team about possible activity that's waiting for them. He takes this job of his very seriously and prides himself of his skills though he gets teased for it by friends.
It isn't always easy on the Lornful Lights. Some still look down on him and don't think he's supposed to be here. Some see him and see only Radiance or Lorem and he gets the consequences of that, whether good or bad. Sometimes, if it's really crazy, he's struck by a sense of intense longing for his current guardians, the quietness and simplicity of Neutral Grounds. The Lornful Light and the endless barrage of adventures it gets involved can still be overwhelming at times despite his yearning for excitement. In the moments when he's tired and sore and unsure of his place while he looks up at the stars in the observation deck, Daylight finds himself wanting nothing more but to return to Neutral Grounds and curl up on soft bed with the assurance he won't be hurtling through an unstable wormhole or something.
Thankfully those urges fade as quick as they had come. For now he's getting by, helping others to the best of his abilities, and getting a chance to see more of the universe he fell in love with from the stories he's heard since he was a kid. That's all that matters to him.

PERSONALITY:
The most important thing to know about Daylight is that he was raised on the stories of fantastical adventures, daring rescues, and impossible wins. It couldn't be helped considering the type of people who raised him -- Groundbreakers, trailblazers, individuals who changed the very foundation of where they're from. To them, these stories are just that: Stories. To someone like Daylight, young and impressionable and eager to figure himself out while he was growing up in the sleepy town of Dust Tumbles, these stories were so much more. They were his goals, his aspirations. His milestones in his long, long life to show he is worth something after all.
He sees the world with rose coloured optics and it's easy to tell he's in awe of his surroundings no matter where he is. He's always smiling, always looking around, always taking in the beauty only he can see no matter where he is. Perhaps the best way to describe his state is that he's in love with the romance of journeys and the promise of what the world has to offer.
It does lead to him being naive and sheltered. While he means well, Daylight does not have a set foundation or code of sorts to lead him in his life. He's drifting aimlessly at the moment and it can be seen in the way he latches unto one cause after another if it catches his attention just right. He's easily swayed if someone is passionate or convincing enough in whatever their cause is, if they hold fire in their voice and a good half-plan to back it up. It can't be helped considering he's still a teenager, practically having just turned eighteen at this point of his canon, and struggling to carve an identity for himself that's more than Daylight, Union of Two Worlds.
Yet at the same time... He wants to so badly follow his parent's footsteps to some degree but that's a good question in of itself - Which one should he emulate more? His mother, the peacemaker and the politician? His father, the veteran and the explorer? Should he be ice or fire, calm or energy? Perhaps be both of them, a match made in heaven that he heard so much about in the accounts and stories and movies he's devoured in his attempts to know his deceased creator and sire better? He has no genuine idea and Daylight puts a lot of undue stress onto himself to meet their standards.
He wants to prove himself and move out of their combined shadows, to match them in their greatness since that's all he's known his entire life. He never really got a chance to know them as people like mom or dad. He knew them as the diplomat who bridged the worlds, the veteran who brought back the Wandering Wonders who helped usher in some semblance of peace on a dying world. He feels inadequate against his parents' legacy, against the staggering knowledge they risked so much to bring him into the world and yet he doesn't feel like he's worth it. Daylight is a lot of things, good and bad and annoying, but he knows he isn't politically astute as his mother nor a seasoned fighter like his father. He doesn't have the grace nor the prowess they had in life nor does he understand that it took them a long time to accumulate their legendary talents. It's why he sometimes pushes himself too hard when training or studying, trying to 'catch up' to these unrealistic goals he's set up for himself.
That isn't to say he's without any merit. Daylight is resourceful and intelligent, willing to take risks if push comes to shove and something or someone tries to hurt those he cares for. He can think on his feet when he needs to, rising to the occasion if the situation got tough. He's brave in the reckless, stubborn sort of way only teenagers can be if faced with something that scared them but refused to admit scares them. Not when others are relying on them somehow, not when they need to look the something in the eye and tell it to bugger off or else to protect what he loves.
For he loves fiercely and passionately. Loyalty is something that's been strongly ingrained in him the moment he could understand things, along with the idea that bonds and ties with others are everything. He will put out all the stops for the ones he loves, willing to move heaven and earth for them should it guarantee their safety and security. That's why he struggled to run away from Breakthrough and Kingsguard at first, knowing his decision to run off without informing them of his whereabouts will cause them pain and distress, something he would never do intentionally to his loved ones and close friends. He wants only the best for them and will whatever he can on his end to support them. He can be someone's best personal cheerleader as a result, egging them on and letting them know they can do anything if they put their mind to it!
It's almost funny (if a little sad) that he sees the worth and value in everything and everyone but himself.
But make no mistake - Daylight is brilliant in his own way. Just in a way he doesn't think is useful at the moment. He simply does not see it as as a great skill set because so what if he has an eye for words, a voice for music, and an understanding of shapes and colours? That won't help him in things that matter and, in a sense, he's right. As a scout of the Lornful Light, part of a fireteam that specialises in rapid response and quick reactions, he's trained to be fast and to be useful somehow if a fight breaks out. Being able to string words together in a song or sonnet or sketch out the landscape isn't all that impressive with frontliners and heavy hitters. But these are talents all the same, beautiful ones he does enjoy but can't bring himself to find useful yet. Others may see the potential in him as a great writer and poet and artist and more but Daylight doesn't. Not yet at least.
Because honestly? It makes sense for him to be talented in the arts. Something that demands introspection of the world around them, an admiration of the universe that one calls home. Daylight has an appreciation for life and clearly wants to be part of it judging by his cheerful and sunny demeanour, his eagerness to make friends and meet new faces. Jubilant and excitable, with stars practically sparkling in his optics if he takes his helmet off, Daylight shows the world his cards whether he means to or not. He's a sweet-natured boy, meaning well and wanting only the best for himself and for others because you should treat others the way you wish to be treated after all. So he tries to treat others with respect and tries to be friendly to everyone he meets, wanting to put a good foot forward.. He's emotional and full of thoughts and ideas and opinions like any young fire as they grow up, flickering and flaring and burning bright.
Daylight, at the end of the day, only wants to know himself and needs to figure this out. He's brimming with potential that's good, bad, and in-between. He needs to learn how to differentiate them and is eager to do so.
CANON POWERS:
ETERNAL EFFICIENCY SYSTEM
Due to his unique physiology thanks to being a successful hybrid between a human and a Galatieon, Daylight is pretty special in a very important way: His heart/system's core is able to pump out and consume arc fuel and energy at a steady and consistent rate, a sort of Ouroboros situation, only this is good for him and not too ominous.
This little quirk of Daylight's is officially known as an 'eternal efficiency system' and because of how it works, this means Daylight does not need to eat or drink solid sustenance to keep himself alive or healthy. (Not that he can eat if he wanted to at any given time. Thanks to his systems being a weird mishmash of two very different races, he has a strict diet that has a few approved items on the list and everything. If he attempts to consume something that his body cannot process for whatever reason, his body will force him to purge it out of his systems for his own safety.)
ARC ENERGY MANIPULATION/GENERATION
There are times he produces too much arc energy thanks to adrenaline/boosts in his systems during combat or other stressful situations but Daylight uses this to his advantage. He's been taught and trained to gather up the excess arc energy to use as he sees fit, often using it in combat by blasting it at his opponents through energy blasts or fuelling his Arc Gun as ammunition.
He can also force himself to produce the excess energy to manipulate as he sees fit - If he's willing to go through the dangerous risk of energy bleedout and a deadly system shutdown.
MACHINERY ASSIMILATION
Another unique thing about him is that Daylight can graft/assimilate outside pieces of machinery or equipment unto his body and accept it into his frame. This doesn't mean one can slap a toaster on him and have him making nice toast forever, though. It needs to be properly grafted into his body and he decides whether or not to accept the new piece of equipment. If he does accept it, he'll still need to learn how to use the new extension of himself like how one learns how to swim and such.
At the moment, he has a jetpack that has been assimilated, located on his back during an adventure on the Lornful Light that required him to fly. Since it's now part of his body, he finds himself sometimes using the jetpack as an extension of himself, with the winglets pricking or fluttering thanks to whatever emotion he's feeling at the moment.
AVATAR HOLOFORM GENERATION
A special thing he inherited from his father's side is that he can produce a hardlight avatar holoform, which is also known as an avaform. When he puts himself into stasis mode but still wishes to travel, he can project this holoform out and still interact with the world around him. He can hold and feel things with his avaform but can't eat or drink because it'll go straight to the floor.
Daylight's avaform looks like his father's avaform in the past. Though, thanks to being influenced by his mind and his surroundings when growing up, Daylight's avaform is younger in appearance and happens to be sporting his mother's natural dark hair instead of father's vivid red/yellow curls.
OTHER:
As answered by the mods in the F.A.Q. page:
Daylight will be coming in as, functionally, a normal humanoid alien meaning his eternal efficiency system will be nerfed and he will need to eat and drink to provide sustenance for himself. Time for him to gobble things up with anything that's within his reach.
He'll also be keeping his jetpack that is part of his body! It's not functioning and will only work depending on what world he's in. He still gets to wiggle the winglets however.

MAGIC ABILITY:
SHINING BRIGHT
Maybe it's because of his name and title - most likely it is because of his name and title - but Daylight will now have the ability to generate and manipulate light from within himself! This comes in two forms at the moment:
🔥 Upon touching an object, Daylight can transfer his light and cause the item to glow bright for about twenty feet in radius all around it, casting dim light for another ten feet. He can dismiss the magic or it can fade away bit itself within an hour.
🔥 Daylight generates light as the source itself! From underneath his plating and emitting it from his optics, Daylight can cast a bright light from himself and have it shine at a sixty foot radius all around him, casting dim light for another thirty feet. He can dismiss the magic or it can fade away bit itself within an hour. He probably should dismiss it of his own free will, since allowing it to burn out causes himself to become exhausted.
And though it'll often come in the the colour of purple-white, the colour of his own arc energy, Daylight will be able to turn the light into different colours if he wishes to do that. That's pretty cool.

ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?:
THE ARC GUN
He'll be bringing in his Arc Gun - Something made for him by the famous Roderic Arcdon while the NODICE roboticist engineer was still alive. The Arc Gun, which happens to be a scout rifle gun in terms of design and use, is fuelled by the excess arc energy Daylight produces from himself, whether by accident or on purpose. It can hold a total of four rounds inside of it, with each shot packing a heck of a punch. How many rounds he has left in the gun is indicated by how bright the two orbs are on the side of the Arc Gun.
Daylight typically doesn't use the Arc Gun unless he's going out with Fireteam Trailblazer and, as a result, will not use it willy-nilly nor leave it out in the open for anyone to just grab it. At the moment, the gun is also nonfunctional since it cannot be used without Daylight's excess arc energy to charge it. Taking directly from his normally produced output could be dangerous for him at the moment, perhaps even fatal so. Yeah. Let's not risk that.

ANY PETS?:
MEDICAL DRONE 15-Y ('MEDDY')
If it's possible, Daylight will be bringing in Medical Drone 15-Y, best known as Meddy.
Originally designed to monitor individuals' health and do simplistic tasks like giving first aid to those in need, Meddy was modified to look after Daylight specifically by Leeds Ascii in the man's final years as a way to ensure someone is looking after his bondson. Meddy is now attuned to Daylight's health and Daylight's health only, though Meddy will help others if Daylight directs an order at them to do so.
Meddy will usually stay close to Daylight's side, reminding him of his tasks/chores/health routines, monitoring his vitals, and pretty ready to inject him with a dose of creathil-serum if he needs an emergency medical boost if he exhausts himself too much. Meddy has a total of twelve doses that must be refilled if used up because he does not generate creathil in any way.
