My memories came back in the form of someone else
I know this feelin', yes I know it very well
Why won’t you love me now? Why won't you love me now?
Why won't you love me now? Why won't you love me now?
My memories, I (Ahh)
My memories, why won't you love me now? (Ahh)
Stepped over me like a sidewalk
That's your loss, your loss
You self-destruct and I watch, I watch, I watch
Memories
Don't let 'em fool you, baby
Memories
Don't you ever let them fool you
'Cause I know that you know that it ain't true
Lock it up, lock it up, I can't deal with ya
Lock it up, lock it up, take your things witcha
I finally had enough
Out to the ride you go

WORLD HISTORY.
This universe is a fantastical and frightening place. On one planet there's a chance of them running across the Cephylia, a peaceful race of amphibious aliens who communicate through 'song'. On another planet, there's a chance of stumbling across the machinations of the strange and eerie Essentialists, a group of mysterious and ancient aliens that are more Lovecraftian than extraterrestrial in both their design and their approach to the universe. This universe is known officially as the Nadir Cluster and is always changing, always becoming something else entirely thanks to the large, large cast of characters that call this universe their home.
One of the most important events that happened in the Nadir Cluster is the Legacy War. After overthrowing their colonisers, the Essentialists, the mechanoid race known as the Galateions soon devolved into a long and bloody war when an argument between what to do next and the assassination of an important rebel leader caused the revolutionaries to splinter into two distinct groups - The Automatons and the Dreadroids. The war will span for centuries, planets, and galaxies. The Automatons will win the war in the year 2063 but the consequences of this war are staggering. Worlds are left barren and uninhabitable thanks to Dreadroids' reckless raiding and pillaging for precious resources. Over a quadrillion lives are lost from the warfare, many of them being non-combatants from other worlds that got caught in the crossfire. Races are now inherently suspicious of any Galateion they see, believing any individual fuelled by arc fuel and energy are monsters.
The year is now 2246 and the repercussions for the space-wide war are still being felt. Galateon, the home planet of Galateions, has been restored to its former glory and is slowly but surely trying to build back relations with other worlds again. Earth, the final battlegrounds for the Automatons and Dreadroids' decisive battles, is a major player in the complicated politics of the galaxies. Powerhouse and empires and governments have fallen and risen and fallen again, all having varying ideas of how to achieve universal peace for all.
The most important thing to note is this: Most galaxies are still wary of Galateions, the sight of them bringing painful memories to organic and non-organic races alike. It'll be a long time before the scars of war are healed and forgiven and it will not be an easy road when reaching towards that goal - Especially when the opposition is both fierce and determined to make Galateions pay for their crimes against the galaxy.

PERSONAL HISTORY.
Becoming an orphan while still a baby due to circumstances outside of his control, Daylight was raised on the stories of his parents and his family and his loved ones being heroes, legends, and game-changers of the very universe he lived in. His mother was one of the greatest intergalactic ambassadors to grace the political stage. His father was a decorated war veteran of the Legacy War, the one who brought back the Wandering Wonders who helped usher in some semblance of peace on a dying world.
As a result of the influence and the people who raised him, Daylight wanted to travel the stars and make his mark on the worlds out there. He would later run away from his current guardians - Breakthrough and Kingsguard - since, while they meant well, they were stifling him with their overprotectiveness. Daylight knew he would never get to have the adventures he wanted to have and had to leave. He ends up joining the Lornful Light, the famous starship that his mother and father were part of. (More or less stowing away, yeah, but details.) He then has a series of adventures over the years, acquiring new powers and new friends along the way.
His latest adventure so far is his supposed chance encounter with a Furian scholar named Erinyes Euryale. Daylight ended up forming a close relationship with her - bonding over many things they surprisingly had a lot in common, from the lost of the family and being affected by the Great War they never asked for - only for him to find out she was part of a group of radical extremists. One that was determined to wipe out Galateions from the galaxy as revenge for the Legacy War. In their eyes, there could be no peace if the Galateions continued to exist. Especially the ones heavily involved in the legacy war that took everything from Erin.
Erin had integrated herself into Daylight's life in order to gain access to the Lornful Light and, thus, her real target: The long thought dead leader of the Dreadroids, Nemesism, who had his processors and identity stripped of him after the war's conclusion. She almost got away with her assassination attempt, too, if not for Daylight's last-minute intervention by taking the fatal shot. Though he survives the near-death experience, it causes a few unknown fail-safes in his programming and systems to break down- Just enough for strange and unnerving memories involving his family to rise back to the surface. Ones that spoke of prophecies. One that showed his mother's coldness to him, his aunt's and uncle's inaction. Ones that showed the lead-up to him losing memories when he learned things he shouldn't have learned, with his closest family members allowing it to happen.
With both the memories and the unnerving revelation his parents were complicit in what happened to Nemesism, Daylight, with the help of his friends, begin to dig deeper into what happened all those centuries ago. Though friends of his parents beg him not to do it, Daylight continues to chase after leads and hunt down for clues to get to the bottom of it- And he does.
He learns that not only were his parents complicit in the complete wiping of Nemesism, but he learns of an unnerving doomsday prophecy that his parents learned. How it foretold the 'union of two worlds' being needed to help save the universe from some known evil, even if it came at the cost of 'life spilled' at the end. Upon realising that his parents only had him so he could sacrifice his own life - never wanting him in the first place - it proved too much for Daylight to handle at the time. Out of impulse and emotion, he broke away from his friends to try and... figure out if he should follow through with the prophecy. It was he was born to do, wasn't it? Shouldn't he commit to it? Shouldn't he be willing to lay down his life and save the world, even if it comes at his expense?
Thankfully, his friends were hunting him down all the while, worried he would come to that conclusion. Daylight would attempt to dodge his friends, feeling too nervous and unsure of his worth to face the others, but his boyfriend, Emergency Aid, would be able to track down Daylight but was admittedly unsure of how to react when he did catch up with his boyfriend. Emergency Aid either wanted to shake some common sense in his missing partner's helm or hug him and comfort him in the wake of the terrible truth.
He does a bit of both while they're both stuck on a hostile planet, the two's bond becoming stronger thanks to it. The circumstances of their situation - searching for shelter, evading hostile wildlife, trying to find a way to contact help etc - forced Day to communicate with Emergency Aid and, in turn, made him realise trying to flee from his fears and harsh topics couldn't work forever. He had to face it sooner or later but, at least, he wouldn't have to do it alone as Emergency Aid reaffirms his love for Daylight and promises that, no matter what happens, the others care for Daylight because he's Daylight. Not because he's destined to save the world or anything like that. It helps boost Day's confidence and allows him to confront the facts: His parents didn't want him. His family was willing to let him die if it came to it. He's hurt by the truth but he's not alone.
In the end, the two are rescued by Dialup and Nightbreak, who had picked up the rescue signals. In the aftermath of them being reunited and celebrating the band getting back together, Emergency Aid basically proposes to a happy and touched Day, who is quick to yes.

APPEARANCE:
In canon, Daylight stands at thirteen feet and seven inches, towering over most humanoid races but still significantly shorter than the average Galateion. He also looks robotic in appearance thanks to his father being a Galateion with extensive armour physically integrated onto his form. Due to being a hybrid with his mother being a human/technorganic, this does mean he looks more 'human' in appearance compared to the more fantastical looking designs that a Galateion could sport like, say, extra arms or a laser cannon mounted on his back. It's the little things that count. His over-all colour scheme is currently blues and purples, having changed from his original reds and golds to differentiate himself from his father.
In the game, Daylight will take on the appearance that he generates via his avaform. Taking after his father's avaform, he'll appear as a tall (6’2) man with dark eyes who has a penchant for wearing bomber jackets and tinted aviator shades. Influenced by his mother's 'genetics' and from pictures he's seen growing up - along with the fact he's a lot younger than his father - Day's avaform is different in some key aspects: He's younger, for one thing, and likes to smile a lot. He has dark hair, faded to the sides with a textured top, instead of taking after his father's use of vivid yellow/red curls too. His PB will be Nick Jonas, specifically as shown in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017).

ABILITIES:
SCOUTING AND FIRETEAM TRAINING.
As a member of a fireteam for the Lornful Light, Daylight's role in the four-member group is that of the scout: He moves ahead of his team, sniffing out the safest path for them to take while reconnoitering their environment to figure out where the enemy is, how many there are, and so on. Since he’s the only scout for the fireteam, Daylight quickly learned the differences in terrain-oriented, force-oriented, and civil-oriented reconnaissance and what he needed to prioritise during a given mission.
He's a sharp-eyed individual thanks to honing his skills over the decades of being the scout of a fireteam. Daylight is able to make surprisingly astute observations when he puts his mind to it and he is able to memorise and remember details — big to small — with great clarity. Not only that but he's trained in firearms. He's more a runner than a fighter, however, and specialises in being quick and nimble, taking his time to get the best shot rather than gunning it.
ARTISTIC TALENTS.
Daylight is an artistic soul, having a sweet and sensitive side to him, and is quite talented in the fields of arts. He loves to draw - primarily sketching and watercolour painting - and he is a talented singer in both human tongue and in Galateion dialects.
Most of all, he adores gardening and has a green thumb for the skill, something he inherited from his mother. He has a talent when it comes to nursing plants and vegetables and flowers and they always flourish under his care, growing and blooming at an impressive rate. Not only that but Daylight's knowledge of plants and herbs allows him to identify them by sight and he knows their properties for medicinal use, cooking, and more.
GALATEION GENETICS.
Galateions are an adaptive and sentient robotic alien race. (Not necessarily a humanoid race, as they can reach to up to sixty feet in height and come in a variety of literal shapes and forms.) The most unique feature of a Galateion is their rapid adaption to new foreign environments, their systems and frames able to spontaneously/dynamically develop when faced with outside threats to their frames.
Due to being a hybrid of a (mostly) human being and a Galateion native, Daylight has a limited form of this adaption as he's heavily influenced by his mother's genetics to retain a humanoid form. He can survive extreme and sudden changes in temperatures, can breathe underwater, and doesn't suffer from short-circuiting if he gets wet. But he's unable to survive intense atmospheric pressure, cannot see underwater if it's dark, and needs a specialised suit to breathe in space if he's out of a shuttle or ship.
He also has an emission field, also known as an EM Field. An EM Field is something a Galateion generates thanks to their core and internal systems. It's capable of creating a series of magnetic/electrical waves that they can control in terms of frequencies and intensity. Galateions often use this to project or explain feelings/concepts that are often difficult to explain in words, picked up by another's field or frequency.
It usually comes in the form that can be best described as a rolling wave, an inevitable succession of emotion-emotion-emotion or sometimes emotion-emotion-concept/thought if Daylight is having difficulty articulating what he feels/thinks. Sometimes it'll be intense, sometimes it'll be subdued. In his canon, EM Fields are unique to only Galateions so there's no known equivalent in Daylight's universe but! all mechanoids - those robotic in nature - can pick up a Galateion's field from where Daylight is from. They'll be able to not only read their emotions but there is a chance for them to be affected by it, depending on how intense these waves are.
ETERNAL EFFICIENCY SYSTEM.
Due to his unique physiology thanks to being a successful hybrid between a human and a Galatieon, Daylight is special in a very important way: His system's core — or ‘heart’ in the closest equivalent in human terminology — is able to both pump out and consume arc fuel and energy at a steady and consistent rate. It’s a sort of Ouroboros situation but this is good for him as it means he never needs to worry about running low on fuel or energy unlike normal Galateions, who need a regular intake of arc fuel to continue functioning in a proper manner.
This little quirk of Daylight's is officially known as an 'eternal efficiency system' after it was discovered and because of how it works, this means Daylight does not need to eat or drink sustenance to keep himself alive or healthy. (Not that he can eat if he wanted to at any given time. Thanks to his systems being a weird mishmash of two very different races of organic and nonorganic species, Daylight has a strict diet that he must adhere to at all costs if he wants to eat. If he attempts to consume something that his body cannot process for whatever reason, his body will force him to purge it out of his systems for his own safety.)
ARC ENERGY MANIPULATION/GENERATION.
There are times he produces too much arc energy thanks to adrenaline/boosts in his systems during combat or other stressful situations. Daylight uses this to his advantage, however, and can now summon and control the excess arc energy he produces. He's been taught and trained to gather up the excess arc energy to use as he sees fit. Often using it in combat by attacking at his opponents through energy blasts or fuelling his Arc Gun as ammunition or using it to shock his opponents.
He can also force himself to produce the excess energy to manipulate as he sees fit, discovering this ability by accident while goofing around with friends one day. It’s an ability he can call up at any time — If he's willing to go through the dangerous risk of energy bleedout and a deadly system shutdown, should he abuse his system’s core too much by demanding it to generate excess arc energy more than it should since the whole point of his eternal efficiency system is supposed to keep him at equilibrium.
AVATAR HOLOFORM GENERATION.
One of the special things that Daylight inherited from his father's genetics is that he can produce a hardlight avatar holoform when he willingly enters into stasis mode. Known informally as an avaform, Daylight can project this holoform out and be able to still interact with the world around him should circumstances demand it. Hecan hold and feel things with his avaform but can't eat or drink because it'll go straight to the floor otherwise.
Daylight's avaform looks like his father's avaform in the past: A tall man with dark eyes who likes to wear bomber jackets and tinted aviator shades. Though, thanks to being influenced by his mind and his surroundings when growing up, Daylight's avaform is younger in appearance and happens to be sporting his mother's naturally dark hair instead of his father's vivid red/yellow curls.
FORCE FIELD GENERATION.
Like his mother, Daylight has the ability to silently summon a shield around himself and others. It comes in the form of a nearly invisible dome that encases Daylight and those around him, often shimmering a faint gold and red sheen if it's struck. It's immune to most physical attacks like blows, cannon blasts, shots, and so on though it will cave into pressure and force if it's applied long enough against it. Though he has no need for it, the shield is able to generate its own internal atmosphere, allowing individuals to survive in it should they need such factors such as breathing air and consistent temperature.
Daylight is able to not only summon his shield with little effort but he can increase the size at will or send it or multiple other shields to protect other individuals within five hundred feet of his range of vision. A setback of this power is how this can wear him out easily, just like how it could wear out his mother, and cause him to experience energy bleedout and cause backfiring — His arc energy becoming too difficult to control and exploding as a result.
MACHINERY ASSIMILATION.
Another unique thing about him is that Daylight can graft/assimilate outside parts of machinery unto his body and have his frame accept it as another extension of itself. It’s not easy as this description is making it sound, however. For one thing, it takes time and effort for Daylight’s frame to adjust to this new piece of equipment since there’s a risk of it opting to reject the machine outright if it deems it too foreign or different from Daylight’s own systems. Daylight has struggled to get his body to accept the item but it seems, in this case, he doesn't have a say on it.
And if his frame does accept the new installation, he'll still need to learn how to use the new extension of himself. Almost like how one learns how to swim. An example of this is the jetpack his frame has properly assimilated after a mission. He’s still learning how to fly with it, struggling in a way that natural-born fliers do not with their own flight enhancements/extensions.
As a member of a fireteam for the Lornful Light, Daylight's role in the four-member group is that of the scout: He moves ahead of his team, sniffing out the safest path for them to take while reconnoitering their environment to figure out where the enemy is, how many there are, and so on.
SUITABILITY:
Daylight would be out of his element for this one at the start. Being sent to a new world — in a fully human body, with needs and wants that come with it — is definitely going to weird him out. However, Daylight is an adaptable guy. He’ll be on his feet in no time, especially when he learns he isn’t the only one facing this situation. In fact— That would help him out a lot, the knowledge that others are also in this experience and they can work together to do something about it.
The biggest assets he would have when he comes into the game is his compassion and his tenacity. He'll try to not look at everyone as monsters or enemies but, rather, as others who are in need of help. He won't hesitate to help the others stuck in his situation and he'll also try to extend sympathy towards the ‘natives’ there, long as it’s reasonable like no one gets hurts by their actions or they go out of their way to harm the others. He has a big heart but it’s tempered by his experience over the years, allowing him to be kind but firm in his ideals, knowing when to draw the line or realise when it’s time to cut his losses or not.
Not only that but Daylight will not give up. Daylight has been forced to the ground, time and again, but he’s been able to get back up. With the help of his loved ones in the past, he’s been able to tap into a reserve of self-reliance and resilience he never knew he had until then. He’s been roughed up but he can bounce back, more determined to tackle things on for not only his sake but for the sake of others.

PERSONALITY.
● Your character has a chance to undo a terrible mistake, but in doing so, there could be unintended consequences for everyone they know. Is it worth the risk? Or should the dead stay dead?
No. In the past, he would have taken this with both hands in a desperate attempt to right a wrong, wanting to get rid of the guilt and to make himself feel better. Now he knows better. He'll turn down the chance and be confident that he made the right choice because, by now, Daylight realises that moving forward is the most important thing a person can do and, sometimes, that includes dealing with painful mistakes and regrets.
To try and erase his mistake is to try and erase his responsibility for what he did. No matter what his intentions are if he makes the choice, it'll always mean he doesn't want to carry the burden for what he had done and that isn't right. To do that is to not only pretend he did nothing wrong but he did no wrong to those who were hurt by it. He'll only compound the pain by going back and fixing it for his own sake, dragging others along in the process who might have moved on or are adapting their own way.
If others involved or aren't involved are coping or moving on in their own way, Daylight has to respect that. It's not right for him to force them into the unknown of his actions, all for the sake of easing his mind. It won't be easy, carrying the weight of the mistake and, frankly, that's the point, he thinks. The best he can do for everyone is to admit his mistakes and do better, keep doing better.
● If your character had the option to permanently lose the ability to feel certain negative emotions like fear or grief, or permanently forget certain memories, would they take it? What if they will never know that something has been taken from them? Does loss only matter if it's known what's missing?
No to both instances but with a great emphasis of no to the second scenario.
He's coming from a canon point where he now knows he was stripped of memories of certain events, of certain realisations. This situation would be a very sore spot for him, one that would cause him to act impulsively because of how raw and sensitive he is to this subject matter. The idea of not feeling things or not remembering things makes him uneasy. The idea of not feeling things or not remembering things without his knowledge and/or consent angers him and hurts him and, most importantly of all, scares him.
His family forced the latter scenario on him, believing it to be for his own good that he didn't realise what he was truly made for. If he did learn the truth, they rationalised to themselves, then he would understand why they had done it. He had the opposite reaction upon finding out he was missing something this entire time and that he had never realised too. To be violated at such a base level leaves him left him uneasy and hurt. He'll thoroughly reject this scenario and put up a hell of a fight to keep it from being forced upon him.
Like- He gets why people would want to take this. He does. It hurts to feel these emotions. It sucks to feel them. Daylight knows this and understands but he believes feeling those things and remembering the things connected to the feelings is what makes you... you.
● Could your character ever forgive themselves for something morally wrong that they've done? No matter how much time has passed? No matter how much penitence has been done? Is being sorry enough to be a good person?
He'll try to. That's the best answer Daylight can give if you pressed him for an answer. There are no guarantees that he’ll forgive himself right away but— Daylight is getting better at forgiving himself and not being so harsh when criticising his own actions. He now knows that he can acknowledge on making a mistake and not beating himself up for it, since that won’t help anyone. There are times he struggles with this but, by gosh, does he try to not be stuck in the same rut, try to improve himself for not only his but others’ sake as well.
And in terms of being 'sorry enough' - Daylight believes words need to have actions backed up to them. Saying ‘sorry’ is one thing. Proving you’re sorry for whatever you’ve done or who you’ve wronged is far more important. As is the knowledge that, sometimes, that won’t be enough too. Your apologies won’t be accepted. Your actions will be noted but not thanked. The reality is that sometimes some things can’t be healed and Daylight has gotten better in accepting that— He’ll still try his best and try to undo some of the damage he’s done, just to make it easier to move on.
● Your character has a secret they have been sworn to, but revealing this secret could save the lives of countless others. Is it worth breaking the promise to save others, or is betrayal never justifiable?
No. Some might debate with themselves about this scenario but Daylight is certain of his answer: He wouldn't tell this person's secret. They told them their secret for a reason: They trusted him. They believed in him keeping mum about this. That's a big decision for someone to take and he respects that.
He wouldn't betray the trust given to him by the person if they were willing to confide something like that to him. Even if threatened or guilted with the knowledge many will die because of his deliberate inaction, Daylight is ready to shoulder that burden. Daylight is a big believer in that ties, relationships, and threads are the things that tie others together. Trust is essential for those sorts of things and he'd never break it intentionally if he can help it.
He would, however, try his best to support them and encourage them in helping others. Whether it's making that secret known to few more others to make the situation more workable or finding a way to help others without the secret being known, Daylight is going to point out it doesn't have to be two choices, flat out. Life doesn't work that way and there are multiple paths, different options that they can take. Most of all— He knows it's not easy revealing something about yourself. He's been down that path before and, in his experiences, it is possible to endure this situation long as you have support to keep you up.
No one wants to be left standing by themselves for something big as this problem. Backing them up throughout this situation is essential, no matter what happens in the end.
● Has your character ever gotten joy out of hurting others, physically or mentally? If they have, does it scare them?
Yes, he had done such a thing and it's something he regrets a lot.
It was unintentional but telling Erin Euryale, in the heat of a moment during a visit to her call, that she was the worst thing to come into his life was satisfying. If only because of the hurt expression on her face, knowing that she cared a lot for him and did feel guilt for putting him in harm's way. For context: Erin Euryale was trying to assassinate someone and he intervened, resulting in him getting shot through the chest by her and her saying she doesn't regret a thing.
This nearly ended his life and the aftermath caused a lot of upheaval upon recovering so Daylight was pretty vulnerable when making the mistake to visit her so soon after recovering. He was hurting. He was confused. He was looking for someone to place the blame and pain on so he wasn't left suffering all alone.
Looking back at that moment, Daylight feels terrible for getting pleasure in someone else's pain. It doesn’t matter if he was hurt by her— He knows he’s better than giving in to the urges to hurt someone, to continue the cycle of pain. He now tries to be more careful with his words and keep his words in check, no matter how hot under the collar he is. He doesn’t want to harm people on purpose, lashing out at them just because he’s feeling hurt or scared. He knows for things to get better, others have to be willing to do better.

WRITING SAMPLES.
SAMPLES:
NOTES.
QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS: Would it be okay for Daylight to wake up and find photos of his parents if he goes through photo albums and the like? His father, of course, would appear humanised in the photos - as described in the appearance section - and his mother will not have silver hair. In terms of where they are now, I'm alright with saying they've both passed away by the time the game opens since that's canon for Daylight. They're NPCs in his story and the chances of them being apped by others is very, very slim.
